'To be able to empower disabled people to make decisions for themselves, which will also bring about equal opportunities for disabled people within the community'.
To undertake this statement, the Disabled Peoples Alliance raise the profile of disabled people by networking and forging partnerships with other organisations in and, around, the Doncaster area. For example, we have representatives on local projects such as the New Performance Venue and the New Transport Interchange.
The DDPA put forward issues relating to disabled people in and around their access and the use of these new facilities.
We also aim to raise disability awareness and equality in light of the Disability Discrimination Act, especially with access to goods and services being a prominent issue leading up to 2004, when the Disability Discrimination Act comes into force.
